Launch your career in banking: Stellar Bank summer internship program

This summer, Stellar Bank's internship program welcomed talented students from top banking programs for an immersive experience that blended professional development, community engagement, and hands-on learning in the banking industry. Interns experienced a wide range of activities - from bowling with executive leaders Stacy Davis, Ray Vitulli, and Paul Egge, to participating in engaging Meet & Greets at Greenway Plaza. Students explored the vast and growing banking industry, while also giving back to the community through initiatives like Special CHEERS and Kids Meals.

About the program 

Embark on a 10-week immersive journey into the world of community banking with Stellar Bank's summer internship program. Designed to provide students with hands-on experience, this program offers a unique opportunity to explore various facets of banking operations.

Interns gain comprehensive exposure to various aspects of banking, including: 

This immersive program equips interns with essential technical and soft skills, preparing them for successful careers in commercial banking. Participants learn to apply academic knowledge to real-world scenarios, developing crucial abilities in credit analysis, presentation, networking, and community engagement.  

What universities have students come from in the past?  

We host students from a variety of universities including Texas A&M, Texas Southern University, University of Houston, Baylor, University of Mississippi, Lamar University, Sam Houston State University, and many more. The internship is open to students at any university who are at a junior level with at least 9 hours of accounting credit. 

What does a Capstone project look like?  

Interns will collaborate on a team research project, presenting findings on a chosen banking topic to senior leadership at the conclusion of their internship. Guided by an executive sponsor, interns will gain firsthand experiences to develop their skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time management. The capstone project is designed to encourage collaboration between the interns and facilitate valuable networking opportunities across various bank departments to support their project research. 

What does the training process look like and how does this prepare interns for a career in banking? 

Our comprehensive training process includes orientation, product knowledge sessions, technical and soft skills development, mentorship, and hands-on projects across various departments. This approach provides interns with a well-rounded understanding of banking operations, preparing them for diverse roles in the industry. 

When does the internship begin? 

Summer internships begin early June 2025 and conclude mid-August 2025.
