Q&A with Stellar Bank Credit Analyst Kameron Pree

Kameron Pree

For Kameron Pree, his passion for banking was sparked at an early age while working to save money for school field trips. The Texas Southern University graduate has joined the Stellar Bank team in Houston as a credit analyst. During his time at TSU, Pree, who earned a degree in accounting, served as the president of the student banking club on campus. He also is among the first TSU graduates to pass through the university’s Future Bankers Leadership Program. Launched in 2021 by the TSU Jesse H. Jones School of Business, the program provides specialized banking courses and helps students connect with industry professionals as well as internship opportunities.

The first of its kind at a historically Black college in Texas, Stellar Bank has served as a proud partner of the TSU Future Bankers Leadership Program since its inception, among other regional banks and TSU’s Jesse H. Jones School of Business Advisory Council.

Q: How did the TSU Future Bankers Leadership Program prepare you for your career as a credit analyst at Stellar Bank?

The TSU Future Bankers Leadership Program prepared me for my career as a credit analyst at Stellar Bank by providing a strong foundation of accounting and finance knowledge. The program also afforded me the opportunity to see the work that a credit analyst does before I became one. The various bankers that would come into the classroom and speak about real-world loan packages would break down the complexity into ways that I was able to understand. This made me gain an interest in becoming a credit analyst.

Q: How do you hope to help bolster the TSU Future Bankers Leadership Program’s mission to diversify the banking pipeline in the U.S.?

I will bolster the TSU Future Bankers Leadership Program’s mission by informing diverse students in college about the opportunities the banking industry has to offer. I have plans of visiting my old high school –– Clear Brook High School –– and speaking to the students about the TSU Future Bankers Leadership Program.

Q: What do you love most about being a part of the Stellar Bank team?

I love the people I work with at Stellar. Anytime I need assistance understanding the requirements for a project or navigating through our systems, I just need to ask for help, and everyone is willing to help. From speaking with other departments, I see that everyone enjoys working together to make sure we make the best decisions to benefit our customers and the bank.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

I am most grateful for the TSU Future Bankers Leadership Program. My goal going into college was to graduate, but also secure a career upon graduation. With the help of the Future Bankers Leadership Program, I was able to accomplish my goal. Thank you to all the advisors and bankers that helped with the development of the program. Go Tigers!
